Master- and PhD thesis topics in the group

Master and PhD theses are offered in following research areas:

  • Proton-Proton-Collisions at 8 TeV and 13 TeV: ATLAS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (CERN)
    Studies on Higgs Physics, BSM-Physics, Top-Quark Physics and Precision Measurements of the Standard Model with data of the two LHC data taking periods at 7 and 8 TeV (2009-2012) and at 13 TeV (2015 - 2018)

  • Pixel detector development for HL-LHC, BELLE II and the ILC
    Development of integrated electronics chips (ASICs) and pixel detectors
    Characterization and tests of pixel detectors and VLSI electronic chips in the lab and with accelerator beam
    DEPFET Pixel - R&D for future particle detectors for BELLE II and the ILC

  • In particular we currently offer:
    LHC physics analyses of ATLAS data:
    Master theses on studies of topics in the framework of Higgs- and Top-Quark Physics with ATLAS at LHC and on Physics of the Standard Model at high energies. In particular we concentrate on final states with fermions.

    Detector development: Master theses on the development of novel pixel detectors (for example diamond and 3D-Si sensors, novel concepts)

    Chip design: Master theses on chip development and characterization of Pixel Readout Chips
